Summary: A nostalgic voyage back in time
Comment: I remember watching this series on BBC1 on 1976, the year before I actually joined the Royal Navy myself. As it was a groundbreaking fly on the wall type documentary ( all very new then and certainly novel on a warship ) naval life is shown warts and all and to a would be naval recruit made compulsive viewing. Even for someone who is a confirmed land lubber, the video still makes fascinating viewing, it is a no holds barred, real life, real people all revolving around what was britains last major fixed wing aircraft carrier. It encompasses humour ( naturally ), compassion, drama and is 100 percent entertaining, and for me particularly is a stroll down memory lane back to days that will never ever be seen again, as sadly the "Ark" was scrapped 3 years later. For the price of a quiet night out have a quiet night in and enjoy !!!
