Customer Rating: Summary: A narrow perspective Comment: I found this manual very helpful for those studying international trade law from a UK perspective, however as an international student I found it useless for those seeking to understand modern international commercial law from a practical perspective. The book dismisses important areas like the Viena Convention on International sale of goods (CISG), the Unidroit principles and international intellectual property law. It needs a major updating.
Customer Rating: Summary: Schmitthoff the ideal guide for postgraduate students Comment: I understand that this publication has been substantially re-written from its previous "dry" format, and is an ideal text for students doing Masters level qualifications.
It is easy to follow, well referenced, logically presented and achieves something that is not always accomplished in academic or professional texts, in that it is now quite readable.
Bang up to date, covering areas such as the new Carriage of Goods by Sea Act, this is a "must-have" if you're thinking of studying international commerce beyond first-degree level, or indeed if you're involved in that line of work and need to keep yourself informed.
Highly recommended.
