Customer Rating: Summary: Highly readable with globalist approach Comment: This highly readable study fulfils an important gap with its analysis of the present American foreign policy in Eurasia region. This enables readers to grasp the integrity of US actions in Kosovo, Middle East and Central Asia. Its globalist approach prevents its readers to get lost in unnecessary details. The first chapter "Money, Oil and Power" should be in the recommended reading list for all post-grad international relations students.
Customer Rating: Summary: An unmasking of the unpalatable truth of US neo-imperialism Comment: This proved to be a well written book and a gripping analysis of the actions of the lone world superpower written in a clear, well constructed, and thoughtful manner. It shall certainly become a very useful addition to university reading lists around the globe within the areas of politics, sociology, international law, human rights and criminology to name but a few. The book is historically and futuristically informative and contains excellent detail of the US National Security Agency and its significance in the development of 'The New American Way of War'. The analysis of the relevance of Eurasian oil supplies to the New American order is very concerning as is the knowledge of an allegation of a relationship between Nato's bombing of Kosovo in 1999 and the quest of the US and its allies in the West to secure a passage for oil from the Caspian Sea. It is an absolute must to read this book and realise the full extent of CIA participation in torture and an analysis of the US response to a contemporary disaster, namely the Tsunami in December 2004 in a chapter titled 'Beasts in Samaritan Clothing' (chapter 10). Refreshingly, the authors consider the belief in conspiracy theories 'a pointless diversion of focus and waste of energy'. They state that 'accepting a consiracy theory becomes a convenient way to dismiss the facts and give in to fear, and in that sense consiracy theories can be a comfortable substitute for the more difficult truth'. IN CONCLUSION, THIS VERY READABLE BOOK EXPOSES A VERY DIFFICULT TRUTH THAT WE ARE DUTY BOUND TO ENGAGE WITH.
