Customer Rating: Summary: Informative and Interesting Comment: This book is absolutely ideal for anyone who is interested in the English legal system, but just doesn't know where to start and needs an introduction. It is funny, engaging and for a subject which many would find difficult to get into, quite 'unputdownable', yet no detail is spared. Thoroughly recommended to all.
Customer Rating: Summary: Outstanding... Comment: Let's face it, studying the law of Britain is about as interesting as watching paint dry but Rivlin's "First Steps in the Law" in paint from would have people actively searching for "Wet Paint". This insight into British Law is factual and strangley humourous and captures the attention magnificently. For those who have any interest in wither the Law or indeed Politics I would recommend this brilliant book. For those studying Law at A-Level this book is of great use but for those at University Level may lack detail in parts. But as it's title suggests this book is the first steps toward understanding laws and it does an outstanding job. I would certainly recommend this book to those thinking of a career in law or once again in politics - these are fascinating subjects, and Rivlin does them justice.
